The Brief

The homeowner in Warwickshire had a new electric vehicle on the way and needed a proper 7kW home chargepoint installed before delivery. They wanted smart control from an app, the cheapest possible off-peak charging, and a clean finish that did not leave cables trailing across the driveway.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Site survey: Checked the existing consumer unit for spare capacity, confirmed the incoming supply could support a 7kW unit, and walked the best cable route with the homeowner.
• Dedicated circuit: Installed a new dedicated circuit direct from the consumer unit to the chargepoint with the correct cable rating and RCD protection.
• Chargepoint installation: Mounted a smart 7kW chargepoint on an external wall with the charging cable tucked neatly to the side of the unit when not in use.
• App setup: Connected the unit to the homeowner's home network, configured the app, and set up off-peak charging schedules against their electricity tariff.
• DNO notification: Submitted the required notification to the local distribution network operator so the install is on record.
• Full test and certification: Circuit tested, insulation resistance verified, earth continuity confirmed, and the full electrical installation certificate issued.

The Result

A discreet, professional-looking chargepoint ready to accept the new EV. The homeowner can schedule charging from their phone, run it down from the unit's own buttons, and trust that the install is certified, notified, and guaranteed. Cheaper charging and no more trailing extension leads.
